Guide
Getting started with Stippla
The short version: import, square up, slice, draw.
Your first existing-plan drawing
- Import the scan with
STPIMPORT. The first import builds a cache; next time the cloud opens instantly. - Square up with
STPFLOORWALL: pick the floor, then a main wall. You get a plan view square to the building. - Draw the plan with
STPFLOORPLAN: pick the floor and wall lines appear onSTP-SLICE-LINES. Or slice at 1 m withSTPSLICEand trace by hand with Point Snap on. - Sections and elevations with
STPSECTIONLINESandSTPFACADE; levels withSTPSPOTandSTPHEIGHT.
AutoCAD doesn’t give plugins the coordinates inside RCP files. Tools that read points (Floor + Wall fitting, Floor Plan, Section Lines, levels) need an imported cloud; viewing tools work on both. Tip: import the same E57 alongside the RCP.
All tools
| Tool | Command | What it does | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Import Cloud | STPIMPORT | Opens E57, LAS, LAZ, PTS, PTX, XYZ or PLY, builds a fast cache and links it to the drawing. Survey coordinates can be shifted to 0,0 with heights kept. | |
| Attach RCP | STPATTACHRCP | AutoCAD’s own point cloud attach, for RCP/RCS. | |
| Floor + Wall | STPFLOORWALL | Pick the floor and a wall: planes are fitted to the scan and the UCS is set with Z up and X along the wall. | |
| Slice / X / Y / Z | STPSLICE | A thin slab across the UCS; the view turns to look along it. Forward and Backward step it. | |
| Wall Clip | STPWALLCLIP | Click a wall: a slab around its face is clipped and the view turns to an elevation square to it. | |
| Clipping Manager | STPCLIPS | Named clips and groups, with enable and invert tick boxes. Stored in the drawing. | |
| Plan / Section slider | STPSLIDER, STPSECSLIDER | Docked sliders that move a plan or section cut through the cloud. | |
| QuickSlice Wall | STPQSWALL | Pick a wall point: a horizontal slice at that height, UCS on the wall, plan view. | |
| Floor Plan | STPFLOORPLAN | Pick the floor: wall lines for the whole floor at 1 m above it. | |
| Section Lines | STPSECTIONLINES | Draw a line in plan: section or elevation linework, flat or in place. | |
| Facade Trace | STPFACADE | Click a facade: outline, windows and doors as blocks, horizontal bands. Unclear areas are marked in red. | |
| Facade Image | STPFACADEIMG | A true-to-scale image of the facade, placed in the drawing. | |
| Point Snap | STPSNAP | Snap to scan points in every Stippla pick. | |
| Spot Level | STPSPOT | Levels fitted to the floor around the pick. | |
| Room Height | STPHEIGHT | Floor-to-ceiling height from the fitted floor and ceiling. | |
| Colours | STPINTENSITY, STPRGB, STPHEIGHTCOLOR | Colour the cloud by intensity, true colour or height. |
Settings, licence and updates
STPSETTINGSopens the settings: slice thickness, tolerances, layer names, point budgets. Lengths are in millimetres.STPLICENSEshows the trial or licence status and this PC’s machine code, and is where you activate a key.STPUPDATEchecks for a newer version. Stippla also checks once a day; switch that off in the update window.
